The volunteers of Remar S.O.S are found in the refugee camps in Lesbos they are already sending groups to attend the basic necessities following a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 that hit the western coast of Turkey and the Greek island of Lesbos on Monday, killing a woman and destroying infrastructure of the Turkish Aegean province, Izmir, to the Greek capital, Athens.

The epicenter of the earthquake was about 84 kilometers northwest of the Turkish coastal city of Smyrna and 15 kilometers south of Lesbos. Extensive damage was reported in a village in Lesbos, which suffered a migratory crisis two years ago, when hundreds of thousands of war refugees landed there looking for a gateway to Europe.

Small earthquakes are common in the area, although they are not greater than a magnitude 5.5. Any earthquake that exceeds such intensity is capable of causing heavy destruction in infrastructures.
