On the 14 of December 1990, the General Assembly of the United Nations designated the first of October as the international day of elderly people to raise awareness and to remember the value that elderly people have within society, in a family environment and the surroundings.

Elderly people are worthy of respect, considering there in a stage of their lives in which there really vulnerable, many of them suffer health problems such as physical and psychological disabilities, and many others suffer from discrimination, abandonment, poverty and loneliness.

The NGO Remar in several countries caters for the elderly who live in the our centers, where they have a decent life, medical care, food, clothing, footwear and above all they can enjoy the company of a friendly environment and where they are taken care of according to there needs.

Remar works by helping elderly people regardless of their culture or their social situation, through soup kitchens in several countries, they are contacted and given special attention through arts and crafts, chats and above all by providing them with company and love. In addition to this, Remar has several care homes where elderly people live, due to various circumstances, like being left in extreme abandonment and poverty. As well as that Remar also visits nursing homes where they prepare and carry out activities such as songs, music, theatre, snacks and joy in which they can transmit that joy to there hearts and where they can have a very special time.
