PAN Child Sponsorship Program

Throughout 2013 REMAR has continued to provide comprehensive assistance to more than 5,000 children who are living in the 200 or so care homes belonging to the Association. Poverty, maltreatment and abuse, neglect and delinquency continue to be some of the common denominators in the lives of all these children. Our doors are open day and night to receive them and, in many cases, they are brought to us by the social services, the police, the courts or the hospitals to be cared for in our centres. Many are found wandering on the streets, with no home or family to go to. Others are suffering from HIV disease and would eventually die if they did not come to Remar. Some of the older children are already beginning to play around with drugs, etc. …

In order to be able to continue caring for all these children, Project PAN (Child Sponsorship Programme) this last year has carried out various campaigns for cooperation and recruitment of sponsors. These have included:

    • Short announcements on Radio RKM.
    • Documentaries on Solidaria TV about the care homes, including interviews with many of the children who live there.
    • Publicity stands during Christmas campaigns in various shopping centres.
    • A sponsored football match on 1st December to help support the SANISI (Saving Children with AIDS) Homes in Remar Guatemala and Remar Dominican Republic.
    • A campaign for the donation of toys to be sent out in humanitarian aid containers.
    • A special cooperation effort by the child sponsors to help raise funds for the sending of emergency aid containers to the Philippines after the Haiyan Typhoon Disaster.
    • Information and publicity stalls for the PAN Project at the Remar International Congress and in the various congregations of Body of Christ Church.

As to date, Project PAN has 1,200 child sponsors, and we wish to take this opportunity to thank them all for forming part of this great family. However, our great objective is that there be a sponsor for every single child living in the Remar homes. Please help us to achieve our goal. Sponsor a child! Many thanks.
